No Men, Rad Payoff, Evening Standards @ The Hideout

GO LISTEN TO SOME MUSIC OKAY? No Men Rad Payoff Evening Standards … and also Let’s Pretend Records is all very good. Show Two yesterday was also very good. All the bands were very good. Evening Standards kept making me think of the UK newspaper the Evening Standard, I kept hearing someone with a very East London accept shouting “EVENIN’ STANDARD SIR?” in my head for some reason. Moving away

The Murderburgers, Get Married, Rational Anthem @ Liar’s Club

LET’S GET DOWN THE REAL PUNK CHUNK BUSINESS TO START WITH. Listen to some music The Murderburgers Get MarriedRational Anthem First of the two shows I went to yesterday because shows are fun and music is good and friends are rad. I like afternoon shows. If there hadn’t been two shows I would have watched very good bands, had some dinner and been home by 8pm. What a wonderful world!

Two House, I’m Fine, You Vandal, Distants @ Reeds

LISTEN TO SOME BANDS INNIT. Two Houses I’m Fine You Vandal Distants I’ve never been to a show at Reeds before. I mean I like to hang out there, I’ve sung karaoke there, I’ve seen comedy there and seen the book club meeting there but I’ve never watched bands play. To be honest with you I didn’t know how it would fit size wise, but it does! There are no

Chicken Happen, Drilling For Blasting and Tinkerbelles @ Empty Bottle

Before I get into some monologue about shows let’s get to the important parts of this post. Chicken Happen have a new album out and it’s very good. Here are some link to that album and then the other bands. Music is good. Go and buy some. CHICKEN HAPPEN DRILLING FOR BLASTING TINKERBELLES The last time I took photos at a show was last year. Flogging Molly @ Riot Fest 2018

So Friday continued and it was… well it was there. Here are some pictures of Flogging Molly, who look like they would be a good band to have a drink with right? I am on day two of no voice, which makes me actual day job of teaching children interesting because they all have to do my talking for me. Also, it’s very weird to be someone who is always

The Front Bottoms @ Riot Fest 2018

I love The Front Bottoms. The first time I heard Maps I was hooked, hell I spent most of that song dancing and singing very loudly between taking photos in the pit on Friday. The last time the Fronty B’s played in Chicago it was super crowded and I had a little freak out and left halfway through the set, so it was nice to watch them here and have

Hobo Johnson and the Lovemakers @ Riot Fest 2018

So I was trying to get to Riot Fest from work to see The Aquabats. Do you know how much I love The Aquabats? I bloody love The Aquabats. They are crime fighting, pizza eating, punk superheroes. Alas I only made it in time to hear the last three songs as I checked in. But I decided hey! I will shoot some photos anyway, because yo, life does not revolve

Photo Adventures #1: Randolph? I Don’t Know Exactly.

I read this article last week about them opening the McDonald’s headquarters downtown and in the restaurant, there was a menu that was just items from around the world. Immediately I knew I had to call up Mat Stokes, fellow photographer and junk food connoisseur, to go on an adventure. This is the first photo adventure of the summer and in true Maryam fashion, I forgot to bring my camera.

What Gives, Apologies I Have None, Typesetter @ Emporium, Chicago

So this happened in October, and yes it has taken me this long to put these photos anywhere. I had a wonderful time at this show. Apologies, I Have None are one of my favourite UK bands, and one I have seen a million times in Europe. One of the weird things about moving was not being able to see UK bands anymore, I mean it was obviously going to

Turnspit @ Riot Fest 2017

Another day, another Riot Fest gallery. After starting the Saturday with RVIVR, we ran over to that tiny stage near the lady on the motorbike balancing on a rope to catch Turnspit. This is where I quickly learned I could use one lens all weekend and was a very happy bunny. Shout out to my photo buddy of the weekend Mat Stokes, who was taking photos for The Bad Copy.
